Morgan Freeman and other celebrities with fibromyalgia talk courageously about their disease

Fibromyalgia is one of many diseases that are not understood. Symptoms include generalized muscle pain, fatigue and problems with thinking and concentrating, as well as memory problems (also known as “cognitive fog”). About 5 million American adults suffer from fibromyalgia, according to scientific estimates. The Fibromyalgia is often accompanied by other diseases that cause chronic pain. The diagnosis is based on symptoms and is established after eliminating other diseases that have similar symptoms. Treatment usually involves medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle changes .

Among the millions of patients with  fibromyalgia, there are celebrities who have spoken publicly about their disease. These courageous celebrities shared their feelings about this disease – and it’s a daily struggle. Some of them even had to put their careers on hold because the symptoms were unsustainable.

Here are 5 celebrities who have spoken publicly about their fibromyalgia  :

Jo Guest

Jo Guest is a former British model whose career has been affected by fibromyalgia. As is often the case, the doctors did not immediately find Jo’s problem. She said in an interview on the set of  This Morning  :When you come out of the hospital and you’re told that everything is fine, you should be happy, but I do not want to be told that everything is fine – I just want to be told what’s wrong with me.

Jo’s symptoms were so important that she had to stop working. In 2008, the diagnosis was confirmed – the mysterious disease was actually fibromyalgia .

A.J. Langer

AJ Langer, known for her role as Rayanne Graff in the TV series “Angela, 15,” began to experience the symptoms during her childhood. The pain made him choose the cinema rather than the sport. Her mother also suffered, but the doctors did not think that Allison was suffering from the same illness.

The actress told  Lifescript  :The doctors thought I was inventing the pain. During a visit, I heard a doctor tell my mother that I was pretending. My symptoms got the better of me, and I lived a full year with pain, fevers and stomach problems. It was then that we finally diagnosed

fibromyalgia .

Sinead O’Connor

In 2003, Sinead O’Connor took a break in his career partly because of his fibromyalgia. Two years later, she surprised all her fans by her comeback.

Sinead told  HOTPRESS  :Fibromyalgia is not curable. But she is manageable. I have a high pain threshold, which helps me – but it’s the fatigue aspect that gives me the most pain. You get to know your limits, however, so you can work and plan your day. The condition is obviously worsened by stress. You must therefore try to lead a calm and peaceful life.
